P2: Plan a Photography Shoot

               P2: Plan a Photography Shoot

For this photography unit, I am going to take photos around Doncaster. I am focusing on the cinematic photography style; my photos will look like a scene straight out of a movie. I will be using different props, camera and lighting techniques to help me achieve the effects of each different genre. The purpose of my photoshoot is to tell a story through my photos and persuade my audience to let their imaginations run wild.

Here you can see a mood board I have created to show you my general thoughts and ideas for my own photography style. A mood board is a collection of sample materials based around a certain topic or theme, I learnt this definition in unit 2. Here you can see I have used images of different movie genres here such as: Romance, action, drama, horror and comedy. You can see the different lighting and camera techniques used in these photos to follow genre conventions.

                                Photography Equipment

I will use a wide range of equipment to help me take the best photos possible and also achieve my photography style. I will be using not only camera equipment but also lighting equipment to create different emotions in my cinematic photography.

I am going to use a Cannon 250D camera to take my photos. I will adjust the aperture, ISO and shutter speed of the camera to create unique photos. Aperture is how much light you allow to enter the camera. A higher aperture means more background blur behind the subject. ISO increases the light of the photo, but it can cause a static photos if you are not careful. You can change the shutter speed to create motion blur too. I a may also use a an 18-55mm lens and a fisheye lens for my photos.

A tripod will ensure that my photos are stable and level. This allows me to angle the camera correctly and  safely operate the camera.

I will need to use lighting so I can fit the genre conventions in each of my photos. I will be using an ambiful FL80RGB light to provide lighting for my cinematic photography. This light is very powerful and you can change the colour to whatever you would like. There is an app called SS LED on the app store that can you can use for this light. Using bluetooth, you can change the light colour, use effects and have the brightness intensity however you see fit. The light is battery powered which makes it easy to use for outdoor lighting. I will need to make sure I charge the batteries first before using it.

This tripod is what I keep the ambiful FL80RGB light on. This makes it easier for me to create a scene since I can place the light wherever I need to and still use the camera.

I will need to insert an SD card into the camera to make sure that my images are stored onto a suitable storage device from the camera. After I have taken my photos, I will move my photos onto my laptop so I can edit them using professional software.

This is a battery charger for the camera battery. I will make sure the battery is fully charged so I will not have to worry about my camera running out of charge.
